If you know me, you know I love two things: Amazon and at-home self care items. I recently learned that people in my age group are now being referred to as “Geriatric Millenials” and though I do find it somewhat offensive, I can’t say it’s entirely unfitting for me. I often joke that I am geriatric due to all the self care gadgets I use on a daily, yes daily, basis. So, why not embrace the title?! Here are some of my favorite and most used items to help you, too, create your own Geriatric Millennial Self Care Starter Kit:
Adjustable Memory Foam Neck Pillow: I absolutely love this thing! I use it daily for relaxing on my couch or when I’m laying in bed watching something on my ipad. It’s completely adjustable so I can form it around my neck or back. Trust me, it’s the pillow you never knew you needed!
Ice Roller for Eye & Face: This is my favorite ice roller and possibly self care purchase of all time! It is perfect for soothing migraines and de-puffing your eyes and face. I honestly think it’s even helped define my jawline and cheekbones. I have multiple in case I forget to put one back in the freezer.
Cryoball Roller: I love my traditional ice roller, but the rolling device doesn’t stay cold very long, especially in the hot summer months. Last year, I discovered this little mini cryoball with a handle, that combines the benefits of the cryoball (like staying cold for several hours) with the ease of having a handle to roll on your face (like my traditional ice roller). I have to say I do like it when I need a roller that stays cold for a long time, like when I’m having a terrible sinus headache. Otherwise I stick to my traditional ice roller (above).
Microwavable Heated & Weighted Shoulder/Neck Pads (3-Pack): I have several of these as well but what I like about this MyCare one is that it is weighted and heavy, so not only do you get the heat therapy like you would with any other heated shoulder pad, you also get the weighted effect of forcing your neck and shoulders to relax. I love the MyCare products because they are much better made than most of the other cheaper ones on Amazon and they stay nice for a long time–I think I had my other one almost a year before I accidentally ruined it by trying to wash it.
Full-Body Heating Pad: If you have followed along for at least a week you’ve probably gathered I love heating pads and am always on the hunt for newer and better ones. This one was by far one of the best ones I’ve purchased. It says “full body” when it’s more like a half body but don’t let that sway you from getting one. It’s perfect for forming around any areas of your body that are sore or need a little relaxation.
Butt Donut/Seat Cushion: After a year of sitting on our couch or uncomfortable chairs while working from home on our laptops, we all deserve better! Treat yourself to a donut! A butt donut, that is. It gives you just the right amount of relief , cushion and back support — what more could you ask for? I honestly use this thing all the time!
Heated Mittens for Hand Pain: So I have several of these bean bag type heating pads that you throw in the microwave. I was especially drawn to these because they are huge, heavy, and specifically for tech hand, arthritis, and trigger finger fatigue. Since I type a lot and use my phone all day, I can feel my hands at night become sore. I use these gloves and keep them on for about 20 minutes and they make the world of difference. An added bonus is that they also double as a regular heating pad, so when I’m done using them on my hands I will just throw them on my lower back or abdomen and they work great that way too.
Side Sleeper Pillow: I sleep with two pillows and one of them is a feather pillow that is beaten down and I fold it up like a hot pocket to try to rig a side sleeping situation. I kept getting random targeted ads for a $300 incline side sleeper pillow and I knew there had to be something cheaper out there. Enter the Amazon side sleeper pillow – this thing even has a hole for your ear to align your spine while you sleep! Goodbye hot pocket, hello side sleeper pillow!
