New Artwork with Jenan McClain Artist Painting

January 30, 2020

Thank you to Jenan McClain Art for providing me with this painting in exchange for a post.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

You all may or may not know that I love artwork and paintings.  I always buy a painting or drawing when we visit new cities and I enjoy decorating our home with fun and eclectic pieces from all over the world! I tend to like abstract art with bright colors, texture, and most of all it has to be unique.  When I saw Jenan McClain’s art on instagram last year I instantly fell in love and knew that I had to have one of her pieces for our house! I worked with Jenan to discuss size, color scheme, where it would go in the room, and other details that made this process so fun and exciting.

The pictures of this painting just don’t do it justice! You really have to see it in person to appreciate the detail and intricacy of the colors and placement.  Jenan decided to name the painting “Embracing Freedom”, inspired by her interactions with strangers and love for poetry.  She even sent me a poem that she wrote which helped her think of a name for the painting.

Sometimes I doubt
The dream,
Sometimes I doubt
The love,
Sometimes I question
The real-ness of
The lime lit butterfly,
Taken flight
In open space
Impeccably timed,
Rare, perfectly poised
Landing place

Sometimes I remember

The Meetings
The Greetings
The Serendipitous
Fleeting
The Indescribable feeling
Love’s powerful healing.

Sometimes I recall

The Moments,
Compliments-
On an ordinary day.
The passing smile,
And kindred kindness
Of an open door.
The tiny gestures,
Little treasures
Precious pleasures,
Encountered before.

Sometimes I feel

The electric charge
Breathing brings
Connecting hands
Hearts will sing
Cry through loss
Cry through recovery
Cry alas,
Darling discovery!

Sometimes I doubt
Where I’ve been
What I’ve seen
Where I began
What I’ve become

Could it have been different
Could I have seen clearer
Should I have known better
Was it
Predestined ,
Irreplaceable,
Inescapable,
Irreparable,
Fated
Faded path

Sometimes I ponder

The experience
The feeling
The foundation
The details
The duration

Sometimes I question

The realms of magic
The impossible chance,
The feeling of unity
Life’s happenstance.

Then I see
The glory
In the pink sky,
The moon accepting
Why.
Content and still,
Universal will.
Watchful until-
The night folds away,

Glorious sunrise
Glorious day!

An inherent passion of Jenan’s since childhood, her painting flourished following a series of life changing events 2 years ago, enabling her to tap into the intuitive process behind the brush. Attending the Fine Arts Center in Greenville, SC through high school, and under the mentorship of talent Jim Campbell, she first experienced the beautiful beginnings of meditative creation.  Much of her work centers around the maternal in nature:  marshes as mothers of the sea, flowers as the divine feminine, and the nude floral female figures-expressions of female fragility and strength.
Always drawn to the water, Jenan attended the College of Charleston and relished in the beautiful architecture and tranquil surroundings of the holy city.  She completed her studies at Clemson University, started a career in finance, and began a 7 year journey abroad working in international real estate marketing and sales.
While working and living in the Caribbean she spent the summers creating art programs for local island elementary school children.  Throughout her time in Anguilla, St. Lucia, and Jamaica she often found inspiration in her natural surroundings, which governed many of her earlier pieces.  She is moved by the water- the calming yet powerful sustaining life force, universally inherent to all living beings.  Her recent body of work is strongly influenced by the surrounding salt marshes and beautiful florals along the SC coast.
Jenan lives in Mount Pleasant, SC with her husband Bryant, eight year old daughter Isla, and mini doodle, Goji.  She currently exhibits her work in downtown Charleston at Ro Sham Beaux, Jahde Leather, and Trager Contemporary on King street.

I’m so excited to be giving one of you all a mini painting by Jenan (pictured above).  All you have to do is follow the steps on the rafflecoptor below to enter.  I will select one random winner a week from today, Wednesday February 5th, 2020.
