I like to think I have a pretty classic closet. You know, things I can wear over and over again that feel timeless. I like to keep most of my wardrobe in this category, but every fashion lover has to keep an eye on trends too, which is what today’s post is all about. Fall was full of snakeskin booties and smocked blouses, so what does winter have in store? Here are 5 trends I’ve noticed and will be keeping an eye on!
You all know how much I love a good tan suede bootie, but I might be willing to mix things up a bit for the combat boot trend. You can find brown options, but I feel like the true trend is kind of grunge and has to be black. I also love that combat boots bring in the 90s trend that’s been happening for a while too.
Plaid/grandpa style blazers
Plaid is everywhere right now, I swear! From blazers to skirts to tops, the funny saying “mad for plaid” really is true at the moment. I could definitely get on a board with a cute, grandpa-style blazer – what about you? Belting blazers is really popular right now too, so maybe go for a slightly oversized look and then belt it!
If you live somewhere extra cold, I could see this being a really great, practical trend. Otherwise I feel like maybe a full-length coat would just get in the way or at the very least get really dirty. I’m all for a good long coat, but all the way to the ground? I don’t know – I’m skeptical of this one. To be continued…
Fleece sweatshirts, coats and accessories
The sherpa trend from last year has started to morph into a fleece trend, which I definitely am loving for sweatshirts and coats. But what do you all think about fleece accessories? I’ve noticed lots of luxury designers are coming out with fleece handbags and I’m still on the fence about that one. I think it’s cute but I wouldn’t want to spend too much money on a fleece bag because in a year or two I might wonder what I was thinking.
Capes and ponchos
I’m loving the capes that look more like chic pea coats with slits for your arms to come out. I think something like this would be so fun for a holiday party or wedding this winter. I also think the ponchos can be really cute too, it just has to be done with the right outfit. I’d stick to something camel-colored so it has more a classic vibe to it.
What do you all think? Would you wear these trends or stick to your classics?
