Tuesday Randoms: Home Update, Recent Purchases & Beauty Empties

September 24, 2019

Can you all believe that yesterday was the first day of fall?  I say this every year, but I really feel like this year has just flown by – before we know it, it will be Christmas and then a whole new year.  Fall is one of my favorite times to partake in seasonal decor because I just love all of the mums, pumpkins, and spooky Halloween decor! I also have a thing for fall candles – more on that later.

Let’s talk about home decor, shall we? We have literally had the same furniture and decor for almost 10 years.  Besides painting some walls here and there, we’ve done nothing significant to our house because honestly, home stuff overwhelms me so much.  I can throw together an outfit and think of some pretty cool stuff when it comes to photos for travel, but visualizing home stuff just doesn’t come naturally to me.  I finally decided to hire someone to help me with decor and it’s been a lifesaver.  I hired Tracey Norton, a local interior decorator, to help me arrange items I already have and to help me with buying new items and she’s been amazing.  It’s so cool to see someone put together and stage a trinket shelf in 20 minutes that would have taken me weeks to figure out.

My home decor taste is much like my fashion taste- a mix of high and low, a little eclectic, colorful and fun without being too crazy.  Rob is pretty laid back when it comes to this stuff and doesn’t really care what I do – however, I will admit the pink fluffy pillows are a little much and Tracey and I are working on some more high-end neutral pillows for the couch and chairs.

Gold Battery Powered Sconces | Gold Battery Powered Art Lighting

Tracey has also convinced me to add some sconces and drapery in my living and dining rooms.  I love the look of sconces, but didn’t want to deal with electrical wiring and all that, so I actually found some battery powered ones on Amazon that we are going to give a try.  I also found some battery powered art lighting, but the color of gold was a little funky.  Tracey is gold-foiling the art lights and the sconces to match so stay tuned for those pictures once we get everything hung!

Couch | Rug | Media Console | Coffee Table | End Tables | Etagere Shelf | Chandelier | White Console Cabinet | Gold Mirror

Since this picture was taken we’ve actually gotten a new coffee table, media console and chandelier and added lamps to the end tables, but I still wanted to show you all the progress.  Most of my art is either from Minted, our travels, and estate sales.  The trinkets on the etagere shelf are a mixture of things from At Home, our travels, and things I’ve collected over the years from estate sales and facebook resale groups 😛 You all are going to be so amazed when you see how the room has transformed just from the time when I took the picture above!

Pink Pearl Body Lotion | NassifMD Detox Pads | Skinceuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense | Isle of Paradise Tan Drops | Fenty Beauty Highlighter | Migraine Stick | Bondi Sands Tan Eraser | Revlon Tweezers | Loving Tan 2 Hr Express | Explore Naturals Deodorant | Tula Brightening Eye Balm | Estee Lauder Illuminating Primer | Trapp Fireside Pumpkin Candle

It’s been a while since I’ve done a recent beauty buys post, so I just decided to include them all in this Tuesday Randoms post.  I’m loving all of these things right now but some notable mentions include the following items which have really impressed me:

NassifMD Detox Pads: if you follow me on stories you know that these pads are my current skincare obsession.  I got these randomly in a Fab Fit Fun box and almost wrote them off and put them in my giveaway pile, but something told me to open them up and try them.  I am so glad that I did because since using them for a week my complexion is flawless and I have noticed a difference in the texture of my skin.

Migraine Stick: You all know I loved my Peppermint Halo roller, but after they stopped carrying it on Amazon I randomly found this Migraine Stick roller and I like it just as well.  It’s also way cheaper and is basically composed of the same ingredients, so it’s a win-win.  I roll this all over my neck and temples when I have a headache or any tension at all and it helps so much.

Explore Naturals Rose Deodorant: I came to the conclusion a couple of weeks ago that my beloved Megababe Rosy Pits just wasn’t working in the Memphis heat.  I would have to reapply several times throughout the day and honestly, who has time for that? I found this Explore Naturals Rose deodorant that I forgot I had and it works 100x better than the Megababe and I only have to apply once a day.

Bondi Sands Tan Eraser: ever since I started doing some sunless tanning at home (I still randomly get spray tans), I’ve become somewhat of an expert on how to remove sunless tanner.  I got one of the exfoliating gloves that I swear by, but I also like to use it with some sort of tan remover.  I didn’t love the St. Tropez tan remover, so I found this Bondi Sands one on Amazon and it’s already so much better than the St. Tropez.

Trapp Fireside Pumpkin Candle: if you love fall candles like me, do yourself a favor and get this candle on Amazon.  It’s really affordable and the scent is strong, but not too overpowering.  I’ve already ordered a couple extra for gifts and happies for friends.

Blue Coat | Teddy Coat | Pink Wool Skirt | Green Pleated Skirt | Floral Skirt | Tan Blazer | Neutral Turtleneck

I also stocked up on some fall basics this past weekend and did a little try-on haul on my IG stories.  I wanted to post them here as well in case any of you don’t get on IG or watch my stories.  Obviously I have a thing for skirts – I just love the variety of patterns and styles that J.Crew has right now.  The two coats are fall and winter staples and you can’t beat the prices when they have a promo sale (which is almost every week).

Olaplex Shampoo | St. Tropez Tan Prep | Schwarzkopf Color Freeze Shampoo | Schwarzkopf Color Freeze Conditioner | Dior Dream Skin Primer | Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation | Klorane Dry Shampoo

These are items that I have actually used up the entire contents of – some I will repurchase and others I won’t.  This Olaplex Shampoo is absolutely worth the buy and I have already re-ordered a bottle because I’m missing it already.  The St. Tropez remover was kind of a miss for me because I didn’t feel like it removed the tan without using an exfoliating glove with it.  It took me almost two years to use up the Schwarzkopf Color Freeze shampoo and conditioner, but I will definitely be repurchasing because I use these about once a week or once ever two weeks to keep my color looking fresh.  I really do love the Dior Dream Skin primer, but it’s so expensive so I opted to try the Estee Lauder primer which I’m loving.  The Estee Lauder Double wear foundation is a holy grail for me and I’m on my second bottle! I also repurchased this Klorane Dry Shampoo because I love how it doesn’t have a strong scent and it’s also not super white when you spray it on.

Whew, what a random post, but I hope you all enjoyed reading some updates.  I am going to get back into a regular schedule of blogging hopefully this week or next, so stay tuned.
