I have to admit that I have kind of become addicted to hunting for cool stuff on Amazon. I know my friend Shop Dandy (the Amazon Queen) always told me that it’s fun to dig and search, but back then I just thought that was kind of tedious and didn’t really like to do it at all. Now that I’ve found some gems for myself with Amazon clothes, I am getting better and better at reading reviews, looking at pictures, and finding some good items that are really affordable. It’s become like a game to me and I am happy to do the digging and ordering so that I can bring some nice affordable pieces to you all.
Now, not all of the items in the above collage are from Amazon, but most of them are. I still love my Nordstrom and Shopbop orders (those are probably my two favorite retailers). To me, nothing beats Nordstrom’s customer service and return policy. I actually just tried to return some things to Shopbop from the Italy trip that never happened and I guess I was a couple of weeks past the 30 day return date and they wouldn’t give me my cash back, only credit, which is fine because I’ll use it, but I just love Nordsrom because they usually let you have a few months to make returns.
How are we feeling about the denim jumpsuit trend? I have to admit that I hated it when it first came out, but since I do Rent The Runway Unlimited I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised at how cute this one was. I get asked all the time about my RTR Unlimited Subscription and yes, I’ve been a paying member for about 4 or 5 years now and I’ve canceled and restarted quite a few times over those 5 years. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it. I feel like the customer service has definitely gotten better and the shipping and return shipping is a lot faster than it used to be, but I think the selection is still lacking and a lot of times the sizes I need are already checked out leaving me with not much to choose from. Plus, from what I’m seeing with the backend analytics, I really don’t think the items I choose and wear from RTR resonate with you all because most of them are pricey (heck, I wouldn’t be buying them IRL), so I’m kind of torn on if I want to keep utilizing the service. Yes, it’s nice to have content to shoot, but if no one is actually buying it or viewing it, what’s the point right? I want to be as much as a resource to you all as I can and I’d love to hear your all’s input on this.
Now let’s move on to skin and hair- one of my favorite topics to cover around here! I’ve recently switched up my skin and haircare routine and I am loving the results of both. I’ve kind of had an aha moment with skincare and I’ve tried to stop using so many of the fluffy skincare lines and go more hardcore with medical grade products that are only sold at Derm offices and medspas. Just switching to the Skinmedica TNS Serum alone has completely changed my skin in just a week. I added on the Lytera 2.0 to get rid of some hyperpigmentation and I think the combination is a winner. I was using the Obagai CRX line for hyperpigmentation, but there are some studies out there that say you aren’t supposed to use hydroquinone for longer than 3 months at a time, so I’m going to try this Lytera for a while and I’ll let you all know what I think.
As far as hair products, I am still using the Olaplex Bond Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner and I love both of those, especially if you color treat your hair. However, I was always lacking on volume and I could never figure out how to get super fluffy and voluminous hair. I went to visit my extension girl, Angie, and she used several Kevin Murphy products on my hair and I immediately bought them all because of how well they worked. I’ve always been hesitant to use mousses in the past because I felt like they just made my hair crunchy, but this Kevin Murphy Body Builder mousse actually works and doesn’t make your hair feel sticky at all. After I wash my hair and comb it out, I apply Kevin Murphy Young Again oil to my ends and then I will take the BodyBuilder mousse and run it through all of my hair. I then dry my hair upside down and add in curls with my T3 curling iron. After I have the curls in I will take the Kevin Murphy Bedroom Hair and spray it all around my hair to give it big volume. The combination of all of these products is the perfect storm for my hair to look full and fluffy.
That’s about it for my updates today! Let me know if you have any thoughts in the comments!
