Hey friends! I wanted to do a random five things post that I haven’t done in a while. Before I get into that, I wanted to show you all the outfits above since they are outfits I’ve shown on Instagram but haven’t had a chance to include in a blogpost. They are all listed and linked above under each outfit.
ONE- I really love using Rent the Runway for some outfit shoots because it’s so much better than wasting a bunch of money on clothes and I also love how it’s more sustainable. I’ve had countless customer service issues with them in the past, but it seems like they’ve gotten their sh*& together recently and it’s running a lot more smoothly than it used to. I just wanted to put that out there because I know some of y’all probably see the prices of the dresses I wear and think, “damn girl, you wear a $500 dress every time you post a picture”, but really it’s just that I have and use Rent the Runway Unlimited. If you’re not familiar with Rent the Runway Unlimited, you pay a monthly fee to rent and return 4 items at a time. It seems to work pretty well for me considering I am always needing stuff to shoot for the blog and Instagram. I usually am able to get about 12 different dresses a month with my system that I use of getting the items in, shooting them, returning them, and picking the new items.
TWO– I feel like the “keeping up with the joneses” culture of our society is getting out of control, especially with influencers and social media people. I swear every time I get on someone else is building a new house, getting a brand new luxury vehicle, has the latest and greatest designer bag, etc. etc. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for people who truly work hard and deserve these things, but I fear that a lot of people are just sucked into this “i have to have this to one up so and so” mentality and it’s really scary. Girl, I get it, I’ve been there. I went through a period in my 20’s where I thought I had to have everything new and shiny and I guess growing older has just made me not really care as much? I used to have a brand new luxury car and when I started into the career I am in now, we get work vehicles which are usually Ford Fusions or Toyota Camrys and now I am just riding dirty out here in my Ford not giving two shi*&s. I don’t know, but we’re just living in a really weird world right now with the internet and instagram. As I always say when talking about this topic, there is a great movie that is older, but so very well portrays this whole phenomenon- it’s called “The Joneses” and I think it’s on Netflix.
THREE– I’m excited about some upcoming travels this year as I start to plan my fall travel calendar. Since Rob and I both work full time it’s hard to fit everything in, but that is why we always travel around Holidays (read my post here). Of corse we have Italy coming up, and then I’ll be heading to D.C. for the first time ever with my Mom on a mother-daughter trip! I will also be heading to the beach later in early August. I will be back at NYFW this September and I’m excited for this trip because I love getting to see all of the friends I’ve made from blogging and instagram. I am also trying to plan another leaf-peeping trip to New Hampshire (Rob and I went to Vermont last year). We are thinking about doing another trip over Christmas this year since we both have a week off from work. We are thinking about either Ireland (my choice) or somewhere more warm like South America (Rob’s choice). I also really want to get back to London and Paris at some point. Gosh, I wish I could just travel all year 😛
FOUR– I’m really happy with where my skin and face are right now. I know that’s a weird statement to make, but I just feel like I’ve kind of cooled it with the fillers over the past 6 months and since I got the under-eye fillers dissolved I feel like my face is kind of back to normal. I still love my botox, don’t get me wrong, but I am kind of over facial fillers (expect for just a little bit in the lips). I think there are so many other cool things you can do to your face like lasers, peels, hydrafacials, microneedling, and products. I am feeling good on my Botox every 3-4 month regimen and getting the vampire facial every 4-6 weeks. I’ve been using different products here and there lately, but I’m really loving the Colleen Rothschild Oil No 9, the Dr. Sturm Hyaluronic Acid, and the Obagi CRX day serum.
FIVE– I am really excited to start showing you all more home stuff once I get everything redecorated and organized. I will be the first to admit that I think anything to do with home decorating is so boring to me and I wish I had more of an interest in it, but I don’t. It’s taken all I have to get some key things ordered like our couch, light fixtures, and end tables. The first big room that will have a reveal will be the living room and I’m so excited about it. I haven’t used anyone for help so this is all me and my crazy brain, so hopefully it ends up looking good together when it all comes in. I have just been taking it slow and ordered a few things at a time (hello, home stuff is NOT cheap). I really don’t see how some people can just wave a magic wand and “poof”, their house is redecorated to the nines. I am just ordering what I can here and there and I hope to have it all done by August.
I hope you all are having a great day! Let me know any of your thoughts in the comments.
