Lookout, y’all! Mama’s been shopping at Sephora and Ulta and I’ve got some new products that I’ve been dying to share with you. Aside from my OCD perfume tray, you may notice some new items that I’ve been using sitting in front of the tray. These are all items I’ve acquired in the last month or so and I feel like the best way to go over them is just to do it one by one, so here goes.
Megababe Megafresh Wipes– y’all know that I rave about the Megababe Deodorant that I can’t live without. Well, I had no idea they have other products like whoha wipes and an anti-chaffing stick for your thighs! They also have boob dust for sweaty boobs! Seriously, give me ALL THE THINGS.
Isle of Paradise Sungless Tanning Drops– I know, I know … these are always out of stock. It’s super annoying. I have actually been pretty lucky to find them in the Sephora stores, but a lot of y’all have said your stores are sold out too. I heard through the grapevine that there is going to be a big restock on the Sephora website really soon, so I’d keep checking back. I have actually migrated to using the dark drops (purple bottle) because I didn’t think the medium was actually that dark at all. I absolutely LOVE these things because you can mix them in with your regular moisturizer and they don’t smell or feel sticky.
Summer Fridays Jetlag Mask & RR Mask– I was really hesitant to try these masks because they were all over social media and they were being given to influencers. Now that doesn’t mean they are automatically bad, I was just not really interested in purchasing them. However, as time went on, I heard nothing but great things about these two masks and I finally caved. I can definitely see what all of the fuss is about for sure. I tried the Jetlag mask last night and it feels like you are putting a silky thick moisturizer on your face. I opted to leave mine on overnight, but you could just as easily wipe it off for soft baby like skin.
Skin Elasticity Vitamins– these vitamins caught my eye during a useless Target run, so I decided to give them a go since we all need a little skin elasticity, right? As we age our skin loses it’s elasticity which in turn makes us look like old wrinkled up prunes, so I was elated to toss a couple of these back and see what happens. I am on day 4 so there isn’t much to update, but if and when I notice something you all will be the first to know!
Olaplex No. 3 Treatment Mask and Olaplex Bond Smoother Leave In Treatment– I am officially on the Olaplex train, meaning that I am using their entire haircare line and I swear, my hair has never felt better. Even Rhonda, my weave, is feeling silky and soft whereas before she was going through a rough patch (I thought I was gonna have to cut her). I am using the shampoo, conditioner, treatment mask and leave in treatment. Basically lock me up, I’m done.
I’ve also purchased a new perfume that I know you will love, and I say that with almost 100% certainty because it seems that everyone loves this perfume. Let’s backtrack and let me tell you that a few months ago I was at my hair salon getting my extensions moved up when I smelled a perfume wafting through the air and I immediately sniffed it out to be on Angie, my hair stylist. I asked her about it and she raved about some perfume called Molecule that one of her clients had worn and she had to have it. Noticing a trend here? It’s like the sisterhood of the traveling perfume. So I stored it in my perfume file but honestly I forgot about it after I left my appointment. Flash forward to last week and I was in one of my favorite Memphis stores, Indigo, and their manager Kyra was telling me about this new perfume and how I had to smell it and lo and behold, it was Molecule. At that point I was like alright, just ring me up because I obviously need this perfume that everyone is talking about. I got the perfume and haven’t looked back since … I’ve seriously worn it almost every day. I can’t explain the scent … it’s so light and refreshing and doesn’t bother my allergies. Also, I ALWAYS get asked what perfume it is, so obviously other people love it too! Okay, that’s way too much to write about perfume, but you all know my love for scents.
After trying out some new makeup items and posting this picture, I got a lot of you all asking exactly what products I used, so I figured I’d put it all down in a blog post. I did use a few new items, but I also used some of my tried and true products as well.
Makeup for look above:
ADDICTION ALERT … do not try this stuff unless you want to become completely dependent on a $115 face primer that literally takes away every pore and give you a glow like a Victoria’s Secret supermodel about to walk the December lingerie show. Truly, I’ve never seen or used anything like it. I don’t know if it has magical baby unicorn crystals or what, but it’s some good shit.
I love the Doublewear by itself, but I got a genius idea to mix it with my Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless filter and the results were superb. It gives just a little more glow than the traditional matte look of the doublewear alone.
I love this stuff, seriously, just powder this over my entire body and I’ll be good. I use this over any and every foundation or CC cream that I use to blue pores and generally make sure nothing creases or looks gnarly.
I know I used to rave about shape tape, but this new Fenty concealer is thebomb.com because it really gets rid of dark circles and doesn’t leave creases. You just need to try it, trust me.
This is my ride or die palette that I use almost every day for bronzer, highlighter, and blush.
This was a pleasant surprise in a beauty bag sample from Barney’s and I just discovered it last week when it fell out of a bag and I was like wtf is this little thing. I love the consistency and the color. I promptly ordered a large size that should be arriving this week.
Other items not used or mentioned: Dr. Brandt Pores No More is good, but now that I’ve found that Dior stuff I doubt I will ever use this unless I’m in a pinch. I also tend to use the Laura Mercier Translucent powder over the Fenty Beauty Transluent setting powder. I really didn’t like the Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation at all. I still do use the IT Cosmetics CC cream on days when I want lighter coverage. The Fenty concealer has taken over as my favorite concealer and while I still do love shape tape, this one is better in my opinion. I also keep the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye around just in case I need it.
As far as eye palettes, blushes, highlighters and bronzers, I am almost always using one of the above palettes. Tarte is my go-to for eyeshadows and I love their blushes and highlighters as well. I think hands down, my most used makeup item would have to go to the Too Faced Natural Palette where I tend to reach for bronzer, blush, and highlighter almost every day.
I hope you all enjoyed this post – please let me know if you have any questions at all and let me know in the comments if you’ve used any of these products!
