Thank you to Diamond Brokers of Memphis for partnering with me on this post and future posts about their selections. As always, all opinions are my own and thank you for allowing me to work with partners that I love!
Who loves rings?!? What kind of question is that, right? I have been obsessed with rings for as long as I can remember and I probably follow at least 200-300 jewelry instagram accounts to see pictures every day of diamond rings. I was so excited when my friend was engaged last year because I got to go around to jewelry stores with her to try on rings while she was looking for wedding bands.
Back when I got engaged in 2008 I literally saw an ad in a local Memphis “society” magazine for a jewelry store here called Diamond Brokers of Memphis. This particular ad had a ring that I loved, so I showed Rob the ad and said “that’s the ring I want”. We went and tried on the ring one time, and one time only, and my decision was made. I’m sure you all have seen my ring at some point on here, and I do still love it, but recently I had wanted a change and wanted something more delicate and easy to wear because my ring was bulky and sat up really high. Plus our 10 year anniversary is coming up in May and I thought this would be the perfect time to switch up my ring.
I knew that I wanted to check out the Diamond Brokers of Memphis ring selections because that’s where I got my first ring and I have loved that ring and received so many compliments. Diamond Brokers of Memphis offers all of their diamonds at just 10% above cost, so they really do have the best deals in town and probably some of the best deals nation-wide as well. Plus their staff is very friendly and helpful and never make you feel weird for trying on a bunch of rings.
I have to admit that I went in with total intentions of resetting my current stone. I looked at looked at different settings and went back and tried on different metal colors. I compared white gold to gold and tried halo and non-halo. I knew in my head that I wanted a gold delicate french-pave set oval halo ring, but I wanted to make sure to try on all different kinds of styles so I could feel confident with my decision. I also tried on different millimeter sizes of bands and settings and decided to go with the smallest size that they offered so it would be comfortable to wear.
I kept trying on this faint yellow diamond ring to get a feel for the gold setting that I liked, and every time I tried it on I didn’t want to take it off. I couldn’t believe the low price and thought in my head, “man, I’d just really like to have this ring”, but decided to just get my stone reset like I had originally planned. After thinking about it for about a week and talking with Rob, we decided to just get the yellow ring since I liked it so much. I haven’t decided what to do with my other ring … it’s nice to have it to keep since it was my first ring, but I may get the stone made into something else like a necklace or another ring.
I can’t tell you all how in love I am with my new ring. I can’t stop staring at it and I absolutely love how it looks different than your typical silver setting since it’s a faintly yellow diamond in a gold setting. I have really come to love yellow diamonds and warmer diamonds, especially with gold. I also love that I will be able to stack smaller thin bands with the ring since the band on the ring is so thin. I also can’t speak enough to how comfortable it is to wear. I actually slept with it on the other night (something I could have never done with my other ring) and I didn’t even notice that I had it on. Here is a picture of my old ring (left) and my new ring (right), followed by a picture of the new ring with some fun bands:
So now that you’ve seen all of the rings that I tried on, which is your favorite?
