November will be here before we know it and we will be headed back to Europe for a trip to France. If things work out as planned, we may be heading back in late December. All of this upcoming travel got me thinking about some essentials that can apply to any EuroTrip whether you’re going in the fall, winter, or spring. If you’re visiting multiple cities or countries you’ll definitely want to pack light because there will be a lot of schlepping in train stations and airports. Here are 5 items that should be in your suitcase on your next international trip:
Jean Jacket– Let’s be honest, you can pretty much make a jean jacket work with any outfit. This item has long been one of my closet staples and is the perfect jacket to take on an international trip because you can dress it up or down. Denim jackets now come in fitted, oversized, cropped … you name it!
Black Dress– Who can go wrong with a black sweater dress of any kind? Wear it with sneakers for a more casual look or dress it up with booties and tights. I think I’ve owned a black turtleneck sweater-dress every fall and winter season since I was in the 8th grade. This is a classic piece that will never go out of style!
Wool Hat– It’s no surprise that I love my hats, and a wool hat is such a closet staple in the fall and winter. Substitute it out for a straw hat in the spring and summer and you are good to go. There are many reasons I love wearing hats, but while traveling, the number one reason is so I don’t have to style my hair. I can just throw on a hat and some big sunglasses.
Low Heel Booties– Who says you have to wear ugly tennis shoes on trips when you can throw on some comfy socks and your favorite booties with a low heel?! One of my all time favorite tricks for travel in the fall and winter is to put on some tights, thin but comfy socks, and a pair of suede flexible booties. I’ve walked miles and miles in this trio and can honestly say that sometimes it’s more comfortable than wearing sneakers.
Cross Body Bag– I was going to put “fanny pack” on here, but I know some people aren’t fans 😛 However, if you need a good bag for an international trip, invest in a nice leather cross body bag. The cross body feature will keep your valuables and money safely attached to your body. Just make sure you always keep the top zipped!
