I’m sure if you’ve followed me for a while you’ve probably seen lots of pictures of me and Collins. Collins and I met a couple of years ago at Panera when we were trying to get a few Memphis bloggers together. At that time I didn’t even know there were any other Memphis fashion bloggers. We became instant friends and the rest is history! Aside from Collins being one of my IRL besties, we have long been blogging besties and I can’t tell you how important that is if you are a blogger.
The blogging and social media world is a strange one, and it can feel isolating at times when you don’t have anyone to talk to about it. I have pretty much always had friends from all different areas in life: social groups, school, high school, organizations, work, etc. But I will say that nothing has been as hard as finding someone who is pretty much just like me when it comes to being a *cringeworthy word alert* social media influencer. Collins and I have similar goals, travel lists, and share a lot of the same wishes when it comes to what we want out of our blogs and social media. We also share a photographer (when Ronnie can’t take my pics) Mary Kate, who joins us on our adventures. Finding someone living in the same city as me has been a lifesaver, as before I would just communicate with people via text or DMs, but knowing that the girls and I can meet up for coffee to brainstorm or just get in the car and go on a photo adventure has been so much fun.
I also love that these girls share the same sense of adventure as I do. I can literally text them and say, “hey, I want to go here such and such date, let’s do it” and they are 100% game. We have a constant IG DM that we just share people’s travel photos back and forth of places that we want to go and pictures that we want to recreate. We have been on some pretty crazy adventures that involve trespassing to take a picture, almost getting arrested for accidentally driving on someone’s property, and how about the time MK’s rental car broke down in BFE upstate NY when we had to call a random man to come help us, in which I thanked him by giving him a bottle of local wine that was randomly in our air BnB fridge 😛 Or what about the time we trekked around Memphis to find a flower field and ended up driving around to multiple fields in the middle of nowhere looking for the perfect one?
Some of you may be thinking, “but how do I find my blogging bestie?”. I encourage you to just reach out to like-minded bloggers in your area. Arrange a coffee date. Ask if they want to collaborate on a photo-shoot or blog post idea. You will find your tribe … and when you do, it’s all fun and games!
