It’s been a whirlwind since we got back from Europe last week and I am trying to decide how to break up all of my blog posts regarding our trip. I have decided to do today’s post about how I planned the trip and where all we went and then break up each city with a city guide and each hotel with a review.
First of all- what a trip! We were able to fit in 5 cities in a week and a half and 4 different countries. Anytime I plan a Eurotrip it is important to fit in a lot of activities and cities since Rob and I both work – we need to be able to see a lot in a little amount of time to minimize days off we have to take. One way I like to do this is to plan a trip around a holiday. In this case it was Memorial Day. This just means that it is one less day that you have to take off from work.
As far as picking a destination, I literally have a thousand places in the world that I want to see, so it really just depends on what we’re feeling! In this case, I had heard so many good things about Prague and wanted to “Czech it out” 😛
I started my planning with Prague and then looked into what cities were within short enough distance for a drive or a train ride. I had also heard great things about Budapest, Hungary, so I was able to add that city to the list for this trip. We had actually planned on trying to do Vienna, Austria and Venice, Italy initially, but after thinking about it and realizing that it would be a lot to squeeze into a week and a half, we opted for Munich and Milan instead. Milan had always been our departure city just because that’s the way it worked out being the cheapest way to get home. From there I made our trip route and did Prague, Czech Republic to Budapest, Hungary via train, Budapest to Munich, Germany via train, and then Munich to Milan, Italy via rental car. I will have so many details on trains and rental cars in my tips and tricks post later this week.
It takes a lot of work and planning to fit in this many cities in such a short amount of time, but when you get to experience the joy of traveling and sightseeing it makes it all worth it! Sometimes I wish that I could just travel the world full time, and maybe one day I will get to do that, but for now I just have to cram in a lot in a short span of time.

Out of your trip locations I’ve only been to Milan. For me it honestly depends on the trip and where we’re going. Sometimes I love staying in one location and other times I like to squeeze a lot in. Last time I went to Europe (which was years ago) I fit in Italy, Croatia, and Slovenia in two weeks. One week was for work the next week was for play 🙂
