Halo Laser: What is it?
The Halo Laser is a profractional laser that is similar to the big daddy Fraxel but with less downtime. The lasers poke little holes in your skin and penetrate deep down into your dermis to create tiny microinjuries that will scab over and reveal new skin when the dead skin falls off.
When you arrive in the laser room there is a nurse who will start you out with the numbing cream. She will rub the numbing cream all over your face and then instruct you to put on a glove and rub some more. This makes sure that the numbing cream has a chance to penetrate down into the skin so that you are extra numb for the laser. The total time for the numbing cream application is somewhere around 30 minutes.
The Actual Laser Process
I have to admit I was kind of nervous for the pain of the laser because I had worked up in my head that it was going to be really painful. I’ve had BBL (a version of IPL) done before and hated the rubber band like stinging feeling of that laser, so I was expecting something far worse with the Halo Laser. I am here to tell you that IT DID NOT HURT at all. It felt like someone was going over my face with a hairdryer or something warm, but at no time did it hurt or sting. There wasn’t one instance where I felt like it was unbearable and I actually joked that I would probably do it again the next day because of how easy the procedure was.
Post Laser in Office
After the laser treatment is done you get some nice cool air blown on your face and some thermal water sprayed as well. They will pack your face with ice cold rags and you get to sit there like that for around 5-10 minutes. After that, they send you home with icepacks so you can keep your face cool as to reduce the chance of swelling.
Progression of Face
Here is a 10 day progression of my face showing it go from swollen to red to crusty and scabby and then revealing baby skin by the end of day 10. I’m not going to lie, some days my face was crusted over and scabby and it was annoying. It never really hurt, but it was just moreso an annoying feeling if that makes sense.
Three Weeks Post Treatment
Three weeks post treatment my face is so radiant, clear, and free of any sunspots or freckles that I had before. I have noticed my smaller acne scars are practically non existent and my skintone is just really even. My pores look a lot smaller and I feel like my makeup glides on so much easier. I would definitely 100% do this again and I think that everyone should get this laser treatment done!
