I’ll be honest, I thought Reno was just a smaller Las Vegas and the only time I’d ever heard anything about it was on the TV show Reno 911! (a personal fave of mine).  I am here to tell you that this city is such a little hidden gem and far exceeded my expectations.  First of all, it’s a good 6-7 hours north of Las Vegas and the climate and landscape looks completely different.  Reno is right next to the California border in Northern Nevada.  It is nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains making it a great home base if you want to go skiiing at Lake Tahoe.  The vibe was very Norcal/Portland-ish and I loved how it had a similar feel as Las Vegas but wasn’t crazy and over-crowded.  The downtown area near the Riverwalk was so picturesque and there were several restaurants with outdoor seating along the river.  There are now several one way flights to Reno from big cities across the US, so if you’re looking for somewhere to travel that has good food, beautiful scenery, and a lively downtown scene, give Reno a try! Be sure to check out more travel content before you go!

Reno sounds like a great place to have fun without the Vegas madness, perhaps a bit more kid friendly? I also can’t believe I’ve never been there. Thabks for sharing your travels x
