Can you all believe that this month marks TEN YEARS since I’ve been blogging on PIPM? I remember the day that I started this blog in 2008 right after I had moved to Memphis and was bored out of my mind. For those of you who have been around since the beginning I LOVE YOU. And for those of you who are just joining, I am so glad you are here! I am here today to share with you all ten things I’ve learned in my ten years of blogging.
One: Be Yourself– I can’t tell you how many people have told me that they love following me because I am real and down to Earth. All I can say is be yourself … don’t try to be someone fake on the internet. I am 100% myself on my blog and social media and that’s really all that I can be, and I love that you all like the real, weird me!
Two: Don’t Try to Please Everyone– I’m sure there are people out there who don’t like me or find me annoying because Lord knows people irk me too … but you can’t please everyone. I’m truly okay with the fact that not everyone will like me- that’s life.
Three: Engage with People– I am also surprised daily by the people who message me and once I reply they are like, “It’s so cool that you actually answer people”. Because let me tell you, there are a lot of bloggers and social media people who don’t answer people or never check their DM’s, which blows my mind. I want to be everyone’s friend and I feel like you all are my friends!
Four: Take the Trip– this has been a big one for me over the past couple of years. I am beyond putting off trips because the timing isn’t right or I’m not sure if I can make it happen. My word of advice is just do it … travel experiences are life-changing and have shaped me into the person that I am today.
Five: Find Friends– if you are a blogger it is essential that you have other friends who are bloggers too. There are so many times that I text fellow blogger friends late at night when I am wondering why in the world I am still doing this.
Six: Don’t Be Afraid to be Weird– I think if you all follow me on IG stories (or used to follow me on Snapchat), you will know that I am a grade A weirdo and I am okay with that. Don’t hide who you are.
Seven: Wear Whatever You Want– I am so beyond caring about wearing what is “selling well on LTKit or RewardStyle”. I tried to play that game for a while and it so wasn’t me. I just wear what I like and what I want and if you all want to buy it, cool. If not, no big deal.
Eight: Promote Yourself– this has been a hard one for me to come to grips with because I am the most deprecating, non-promoting person ever, but if you want to get more readers and a bigger reach, you have to pimp yourself. I hate it still, but it’s necessary sometimes.
Nine: Be Proud– it’s a cool thing, this blogging world, and it took me a long time to actually be proud of myself for basically having a second job keeping up with my blog and social media.
Ten: Have Fun! – really, don’t take yourself too seriously and have fun!
I am so thankful for each and every one of you that come here and read my posts and that follow along with my crazy life. I am going to have a HUGE giveaway soon on my IG and Facebook Page so stay tuned!
